Garlic Hot Honey Chicken Tenders (Air-Fried)

Meet your newest Super Bowl appetizer!!

If you've never made or tasted hot honey this recipe is a fabulous start. It's simple, only takes 5 minutes, and is not overly sweet or spicy, it's the perfect balance of both.

My fiancé put these over chick-fil-a sauce so, yeah, they're that good.

Garlicky meets sweet meets spicy. Literally a taste bud explosion in this five minute recipe.

I used the air fryer to make the tenders because it gets them extra crispy. But you could bake them at 400F for 15 minutes, turning halfway, if you don't have access to an air fryer.

For the honey, I recommend a good quality honey. You want the authentic, delicious natural sugars. Not the artificial stuff, trust me it's worth it. Maple syrup too but that's for another day.

Garlic Hot Honey Chicken Tenders (Air-Fried)

4 Servings | Cook time: 5 min (sauce) 20 min (chicken)

Notes: The delicious marrying of spicy and sweet. The perfect appetizer, entree or side dish for all types of eaters.

Ingredients:

Chicken:

  • 1-1 1/2 lb chicken breast

  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs

  • 2 tbsp grated parmesan

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

  • 3 tbsp unsweetened original almond milk

  • 1 tbsp egg whites

Sauce:

  • 1 tsp hot sauce

  • 1/2 tbsp apple cider vinegar

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tbsp honey

  • 1/4 tsp paprika

  • 1/8 tsp cayenne

  • Pinch red pepper flakes

Directions:

Chicken:

  1. Quarter each chicken breast into 4 equal logs. Cut the logs in half so each breast is in about 8 pieces (give or take depending on size of breast).

  2. Set up three bowls to bread your chicken tenders.

    1. Dish 1: Whisk flour, salt and pepper together.

    2. Dish 2: Whisk egg whites and milk together.

    3. Dish 3: Whisk breadcrumbs, oregano, basil and parmesan together.

  3. Dredge each tender in the flour, shaking off any excess, following by a dip in the milk/egg dish and lastly cover each with the breadcrumb layer.

  4. Place chicken in the air fryer and cook for 15 minutes at 350, flipping halfway. If your air fryer is very small you may need to do this in two batches.

Garlic Hot Honey Sauce:

  1. Space a small nonstick sauté pan with nonstick spray over medium heat.

  2. Add all of the sauce ingredients to the pan and whisk together until smooth.

  3. Bring the sauce just to a boil and then lower to it’s lowest setting, to just a simmer. Simmer for 5-10 minutes (until the chicken is done).

  4. Drizzle the sauce over the chicken tenders while still warm and serve immediately.

Note: if not eating right away, make the chicken ahead of time and pop in the air fryer for a minute or two to reheat. Wait to make the sauce until ready to serve, it’s best fresh but can be reheated if needed! Simply place back over heat and return to a simmer before drizzling.
